In 1863, Anthony Hardy founded the Hardy cognac house. Anthony Hardy was an English gentleman who operated in the wine and spirits business in London. He moved to the Cognac region of France precisely because he wanted to own a cognac estate and make his own cognac. The rooster adorning the Hardy cognac brand comes from the coat of arms of the Hardy family.
